More About Black in the Bluegrass:

My name is Stacy Brooks, and I'm a former Ph.D. candidate (University of Louisville: Interdisciplinary Studies, History, Pan African Studies, GIS analysis) and a current public historian. I never expected to start a family and live in a state like Kentucky; I always thought I would come to live in a state like Maryland, a Blue state. Instead, somehow I landed in the Blue (grass) State. Over my years of growing my family and making friends, getting a higher education, and then my first real job after my military service was complete - I have become attached to Kentucky. In this podcast, I dig into my curiosity about how other people became connected to Kentucky and what we can learn from their interests and insights.

Black in the Bluegrass: a public history podcast features stories of Kentucky's past and people shaping its present. We aim to reshape the narrative about black Kentucky and provoke new possibilities for all of Kentucky to embrace a future as democratically radical as its frontier past.
